Epidural Hematoma

An epidural hematoma is when bleeding occurs between the inner surface of the skull and the outer layer of the brain’s protective covering. It is usually caused by a head injury that tears an artery and leads to rapid blood accumulation and increased pressure on the brain. Symptoms may include severe headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, confusion, unequal pupils, or loss of consciousness.
Treatment Options
Treatment typically involves emergency surgery to remove the hematoma and relieve pressure, often through a craniotomy. Without rapid intervention, an epidural hematoma can be life-threatening, making immediate medical attention essential after any significant head trauma.
